Ivana Pilja, high fashion from Belgrade
I, like many others am often under the impression that great fashion talent always comes out of the biggest fashion schools in Europe or America. Be it Parsons or Central Saint Martin's, it appears most of the designers on the runways at the moment have more or less the same origin.
Enter Ivana Pilja and her astounding designs. She graduated from the Belgrade "College of Design" and currently works as a head designer for sport and streetwear for Studio Gajic. When it comes to her own line, her designs are as avant-garde as it gets and they have a wonderful geometric, almost architectural quality. Her clothes are more than just clothes, they are works of art.
She recently presented her first collection, inspired by Japanese culture and Origami and is showing this season at Belgrade Fashion Week.
